People who are between the ages of 41-57 (77 million Baby
Boomers!) are of Baby Boomer age and every aspect of life touches
us -- from birth to death and to make it more real:  Baby Boomers
are starting to turn 60! You know, they say turning 60 is the next 40!!
I wonder....... I'll let you know the outcome of this one in September.
UGH! Right now, I'm just spending my days wondering if Social
Security will still be around in a few years when I'm ready for it!
It’s a little shocking, really, to find yourself suddenly in the over-50
category. You’re not yet old enough to retire, so if you want to stay
active in the business world you find that you have to compete with
job descriptions looking for “fresh, young attitudes” combined with
“proven ability” (how do you get both?), or you need to find a way
to translate your years of experience into a meaningful business
venture of your own. And all the while, your mailbox is starting to
fill with ads from AARP. You don’t feel old … well, except for that
knee that isn’t flexing quite like it used to, or that energy that isn’t
there anymore when you get home from work. But you know
something is definitely changing.

Surveys show that the most important issue for most “baby
boomers” today no longer involves how much money they make,
what kind of car they drive or how successful they are in business,
but it’s about having a purpose in life. Those unresolved questions
we played with before life got to be about paying bills and sweating
out April 15th were buried somewhere along the way by all those
other truly significant questions (see above). Now here they are
surfacing once again.

Why was I born? Why am I here? Surely I’m not going to just fade
away without making a difference ... am I?

Suddenly those questions become really important, because
suddenly we realize that we do have just one life to live… and it’s
already more than half gone! It’s no good trying to rationalize that
the re-incarnationists might be right and you’ll get another chance.
So far, there is no evidence to suggest that anyone has returned as
the same person, ever. All I know is I'm not really into this growing
old thing - I am in complete denial and plan to stay that way! If
anyone ever finds the Fountain of Youth, I hope I'm on the give-
away list!!
BABYBOOMERS
WITH  ATTITUDE !
Give people more than they
expect and do it cheerfully.

UPDATE: JUNE 18, 2009 -
I'M STILL HERE!!! LOL Have I found any real meaning to my life..
NO.. am I still searching? YES.. is anyone there? Does anyone
care? I have re-discovered container gardening - yes! and I'm
growing strawberries - not very well, I might add, but it is fun to go
check them every day or so, and find a ripe one - sometimes
they're sweet - but most times they're a little bit tart! lol Well, I
think I'm going to have to start a blog on this page as I keep
thinking of things to say. And I really want to keep up-to-date with
babyboomer news. SO stay tuned folks - as they say - "The Best
is Yet to Come"!!!.
